My mother came to me and told me she was going to have this procedure, while I was extremely jealous and saddened by the thought that she had not thought of including me, I was so proud of her for being so strong and going forward to make steps to live a healthier life. At the end of the conversation, she asked me to join her, I was so overwhelmed and blown away. I thank her every single day for allowing me this new life.
I had been overweight my whole life. My older sister was always the tall and thin one and I was short and stumpy. While bubbly in personality, I was struggling everyday. I took diet pills, played sports, worked out, was forced onto crash diets and had food taken from me. I was set that nothing would work, I was just supposed to be fat for the rest of my life. Then the OCC came, now I want to tell every single person I come across about the change they can make. You can be healthy for your kids, grand kids and most importantly yourself. You deserve to be happy. There is a choice. It is one I make everyday to live the life I chose, to sample and keep the weight off, to look on the outside as I feel on the inside. I choose me, I choose health, I choose a long satisfying life.
